Most Expensive Car in the World

If your passion for performance and luxury autos cannot be stopped, and your McLaren F1 is becoming a bore along with the rest of your exotic cars, it might be time to check out Top Gear’s “Car of the Decade,” the Bugatti Veyron. The most recent model, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, has an estimated price tag of $2.3 million and, if that figure is even close to the ultimate price, will be the most expensive car in the world.
The Super Sport, unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2010, is not your typical luxury car. Its W16 engine—essentially two narrow-angle V8s sharing a crankshaft—with four turbochargers generates 1,200 hp and, along with improved aerodynamics over the original Veyron, allows it to reach a top speed of 268 miles per hour. That makes the Super Sport the fastest production car in the world.

The original Bugatti Veyron 16.4, which entered production in 2005, hits 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, does the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds and reaches its top speed of 252 mph in just 55 secs. It came after a long absence from the market for Bugatti and helped the brand reclaim its title as the ultimate performance car and reign supreme as the world’s most expensive production car.

The Veyron is named after Pierre Veyron, who won the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans while driving a Bugatti Type 57 with Jean-Pierre Wimille.

Most Expensive MP3 Player $40,000

A contender for the title of world’s most expensive MP3 player has recently surfaced, however, in the iDiamond. This diamond-encrusted version of the iPod Shuffle was offered as part of an auction at the Feast of Albion. The auction also included a chauffeured Jaguar XJ and VIP tickets to see Roger Waters’ final performance of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The iPod and accompanying headphones are made of 18k white and pink gold. There are 430 diamonds on the iPod and another 118 in the headphones. While its estimated worth is around $40,000, its exact value is up in the air since it is a unique item sold as part of a larger auction prize. That fact means it could easily outclass the Douglas.J Presidential as the most expensive MP3 player in the world.

Dell Studio XPS 435 Core i7 desktop appears: 24GB RAM & Blu-ray

A new Dell desktop has been quietly launched, the Dell Studio XPS 435. The slick, angled casing hides an equally slick, impressive set of components inside, with up to a 3.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor extreme edition sitting pretty on the X58 chipset, paired with up to 24GB of DDR3 memory and 4.5TB of storage spread across three drive bays.

There’s also a choice of graphics options, topping out at the ATI Radeon HD4870, together with a few optical drive decisions; a Blu-ray drive is available. As standard you get a 15-in-1 memory card reader, lurking above the top drive bay, and on the very top of the tower there’s a charging nook for your PMP with a few of the XPS 435′s eight USB 2.0 ports.

Other connectivity includes standard gigabit ethernet and optional WiFi n, both eSATA and Firewire, S/PDIF, front audio in/out connections and, round the back, separate speaker sockets for the integrated 7.1 surround sound. The beast runs either Vista Ultimate or Home Premium (both the 64-bit editions) and we’re still waiting on availability and price.
